Celebrate the Africa Centre and discover their archives at this special document display
Discover a selection of archival material tracing the history of The Africa Centre, a London-based charity established in 1961 that supports and connects Africa and its diaspora through art, culture, heritage, and debate.
The Centre had its very own lecture hall, library, restaurant, nightclub and radio show hosting legendary political figures and cultural icons like Dr Kenneth Kaunda, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Walter Rodney, Wala Danga, Sonia Boyce and more.
These records offer a clear look at the Centre’s founding, its programming, and its role as a space for discussion, creativity, and cultural exchange.
