8 ideas for family fun this February half-term in London

With half-term fast approaching, no doubt every parent is scouting out the most fun and engaging events for their children. 

We’ve listed eight of the best activities to do in the City of London this February 2026 half-term that are perfect for a day out with children (and two more as a bonus, just outside the City).

1. Explore the City of London with walking trails

There’s nothing better than getting out and about in the fresh air. Explore iconic landmarks and outdoor art trails in the City of London where every statue, street, and experience is a treasure waiting to be discovered. Stop by the City Information Centre, located beside St Paul's Cathedral, to collect a map to guide you on your explorations!

City of London Children's Trail: embark on a captivating adventure that takes you on a journey through the ages. From medieval buildings to towering skyscrapers, iconic landmarks to hidden curiosities, the trail promises excitement at every turn. Grab a free Children's Trail Map & stickers from the City Information Centre near St Paul’s Cathedral for an interactive experience.

Sculpture in the City: immerse yourself in the beauty of Sculpture in the City's outdoor artworks. Embark on a special Family trail around the eastern side of the City, where each sculpture tells a unique story.

2. Unleash your creative side with free, hands-on activities

Uniform thinking at the Bank of England Museum (Monday 16 to Friday 20 February): catwalk into the Museum during February half term; design and colour your very own Bank of England uniform. Plus, discover more about the various attire from the Bank's past, and the many accessories that have accompanied the Bank's worn history.

Free, no booking required. Monday 16 to Friday 20 February, 10am-5pm. Nearest TFL stations: Bank, Cannon Street, Mansion House, Monument or Moorgate.

Guildhall Art Gallery and London's Roman Amphitheatre (Wednesday 18 February): embark on a family day that takes over Guildhall Art Gallery and London's Roman Amphitheatre and makes it a place for you and your family to unleash your natural creativity. There will be no templates, no instructions, just artists and playworkers to help facilitate creation and play surrounded by great art and ancient history.

Free drop-in event, booking advised. Wednesday 18 February, 10am–4pm. Small quiet space with ear defenders and sensory toys for those that need it. Nearest TFL stations: Bank, Moorgate.

London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE (Wednesday 18 February): create your own artwork this February half-term at London Mithraeum Bloomberg SPACE. Children will use collage and paper-cutting to make their own masterpieces, inspired by artist Mark Manders’ monumental sculpture that resembles an ancient relic. Aimed at ages 5–11, but everyone is welcome.

Free event, booking advised. Wednesday 18 February, 10am–4pm. Quiet hour from 3:30 to 4pm. Nearest TFL stations: Bank, Cannon Street, Mansion House.

3. Delve into delicious food in the City

After all of your exploring, you'll be ready for some good grub and we’ve rounded up some of the best places in the City to bring your little ones.

  • Nando's: treat yourself to their legendary Portuguese flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken in a vibrant atmosphere at their restaurant in One New Change.
  • Zizzi: dive into pizza, pasta and all things Italian-inspired while watching your food get prepared in an open kitchen with wood-stone ovens. Also located in One New Change.
  • Shake Shack: serves elevated versions of American classics using only the best ingredients. Shake Shack is located at Mansion House, 45 Cannon Street.
  • Boom Bap Burger: serving up mouth-watering burgers in the iconic Leadenhall Market.
  • Pizza Express: pizza and doughballs in the incredible location that is Leadenhall Market makes for a memorable half-term meal out.
  • Afternoon Tea at Pan Pacific: little explorers can enjoy Children’s Afternoon Tea at Pan Pacific, complete with an activity pack and a colour-in postcard sent to a loved one.
  • Vintry & Mercer Hotel: experience the Magic of Afternoon Tea every day during half-term, and step into a world of enchantment, where every bite tells a story.

4. Family Film club at the Barbican 

Create lasting memories at the Barbican's Family Film Club, featuring Robot Dreams on Saturday 21 February.

With plenty of seating, toilets (+ baby changes) and a café area, the Barbican cinema is a relaxed environment perfect for families to start the weekend. Before, during and after each screening there are activity sheets, books, toys and games out in the café for you to use.

5. Here be dragons! at Tower Bridge 

Look out for dragons on your visit to Tower Bridge! Find out more about these mythical stone beasts and their link to London on Saturday 14 February. You can make your very own dragon to take home and keep.

The family activities at Tower Bridge are drop-in sessions between 10am and 4pm, so no need to book. Children of all ages are welcome, but the activity is particularly suitable for those aged 6 to 10 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

6. Play a colourful game of indoor crazy golf at Puttshack

Enjoy time together and experience the next-generation of crazy golf at Puttshack. The epic seamless tech-infused elements will have you and the kids truly blown away. Play a 9-hole course, themed on retro gaming, and discover new and exciting features, such as supertubes, bunkers, hazards and more. Perfect for ages 7+.

7. Beano Mischief at the Tower of London

This February half-term, join Dennis and his Beano pals for a blamazing adventure at the Tower of London as they travel through time and need YOU to join the fun!

After crash-landing their time machine inside the fortress, Dennis and friends need your help. Hunt for missing go-kart parts, fix the scrambled timeline and help get the crew back to Beanotown before it’s too late! Pick up your very own Beano comic strip story when you arrive — and keep an eye out for some surprising characters from the Tower’s past along the way.

14-22 February, 9am - 4.30pm. Adult £35.80, child 5-15 and young person 16 - 17 £17.90, under 5 go free. Nearest TFL stations: Tower Hill, Tower Gateway (DLR).

8. Drive an F1 race car at F1 Arcade (One New Change)

Ignite your family's sense of adventure with the thrilling F1 Arcade.
