Trying every type of cuisine at Urban Food Court

Urban Food Court is one of the City’s most popular spots for lunch and dinner, nestled on the corner of Watling Street and Bow Lane, just down from St Paul’s.

One of their strengths is the huge range of cuisines on offer, leaving something for everyone, but can make it very intimidating to choose! We thought we'd give every type of dish on offer so you don't have to (thankless work), so let's dive in so you know what to go for on your next visit.

American

Bottomless. Fries. Okay, it’s not literally bottomless, but it’s the next best thing! This box was absolutely stuffed with crispy shoestring style fries (£3.25) to the point where I actually couldn’t finish them all, and we’re no slouch when it comes to eating.

Next to it was a massive crispy chicken burger (£8.95) in a brioche bun, with tangy mayo, a gigantic juicy chicken thigh and enough lettuce to make you pretend that it’s healthy, it's great for the hungry punter.

Chinese

Our personal favourite. Just because chicken, rice and vegetables are the bodybuilder’s meal, it doesn’t mean it needs to be bland and flavourless. The sweet & sour chicken on rice is our go-to for when we need something filling that hits our macros.

The crispiness of the chicken, the vibrant sauce and the vegetables all complement the flavour so well. Portion size is never an issue, as this will have you filled all day!

Thai

A Thai dish wouldn’t be complete without beautifully fresh chilli! We opted for the milder choice, the creamy green curry, and it was delicious, striking a perfect balance of spicy, sweet, and savoury.

There’s a range of protein options available; we tried the beef, which came in a generous portion and paired perfectly with the vegetables. Love a bit more heat? The red curry is a great option, and there’s also a meat-free choice available.

Mexican

This chicken fajita wrap is an absolute mouthful, which is particularly nice as one of the cheapest mains they have to offer. We’re pretty straightforward here: if you load something up with cheese, we’ll probably love it, and this is no exception.

There’s also a healthy mixture of veggies and sour cream, and our choice if you need something that’s a little more suited for eating on the go.

Italian

Ragù alla bolognese, or spag bol, is many people’s entryway into Italian food and pasta, so you can rest assured that this is also a safe choice.

There’s some really nice beef, and obviously, you can load it up with parmesan, but the real advantage of this dish is that there’s a fully vegan alternative.
