Christmas at St Paul's Cathedral

St Paul’s Cathedral welcomes everyone to enjoy a near-daily array of Christmas services and family carols this season. Get yourself into the festive mood with concerts or carols at Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece. See some of the highlights below, book your tickets for concerts, and check details for services. All Advent and Christmas services are free but some are ticketed due to popular demand.

Christmas Carol Service

23-24 December / 4-5pm

The start of the Christmas season with the re-telling of the story of the birth of Christ in words and music at this traditional service of Lessons and Carols, with music from the St Paul's Cathedral Choir and readings given by representatives of London life and the St Paul's Cathedral Community.

Due to unprecedented demand last year, the 4pm Carol Services on the 23 and 24 December are free but ticketed. Tickets will be released in the next few weeks, keep an eye on St Paul's Cathedral website so you don't miss out.

Handel's Messiah

6 December / 6:30-9pm

The Cathedral Choir and Chorus perform Handel's glorious and world-famous oratorio with the City of London Sinfonia. A wonderful re-telling of the life of Christ in the run up to Christmas. Sung in English, Handel composed Messiah in 1741 with a scriptural text compiled by Charles Jennens. It was first performed in April 1741 in Dublin followed by its London premiere nearly a year later and has become one of the best-known choral works in Western music.
