Heritage Gallery Exhibition – Shakespeare

Celebrate the 400th anniversary of the publication of one of the world’s most significant literary treasures - William Shakespeare’s First Folio.

Visit the City of London Heritage Gallery for a remarkable exhibition of historical items related to greatest English playwright, William Shakespeare, on display until 25 January 2024.

Don't miss this chance to see one of the finest and most complete copies of William Shakespeare's First Folio in the world, rarely on public display.

Exhibition highlights also include:

  • John Keats’ facsimile of the First Folio, in which he wrote two poems, including ‘On Sitting Down To Read King Lear Once Again’.
  • The parish register containing the entry for the burial of Edmund Shakespeare, William’s nephew.
  • The Shakespeare property deed, which relates to the purchase of a house in Blackfriars in 1613 and bears one of only six authenticated signatures in existence.

The City of London Heritage Gallery is located within Guildhall Art Gallery. We recommend that you book a free general admission ticket to gain entry.
