A revolving programme of family activities may have you heading into the Roman Amphitheatre and hearing tales of Roman conquests, or creating crafts from the Victorian paintings surrounding you.
Join Guildhall Art Gallery on 14 March for a special Second Saturday family day, where you will be heading underground to celebrate the launch of their exciting new exhibition 'Underground (and Surface)' by artists Jock McFadyen and Jem Finer.
The exhibition explores the beauty that can be found amongst the grit of London and the Tube. You and your little London lovers, and tiny train enthusiasts, are invited to create a complex track around the exhibition and add your own crafted elements.
11am to 4pm - Creative Activities:
- Create a mega wooden train track inside an art gallery and test it with our remote control trains.
- Build your own Tube station to add to the track or take home for your own railway.
11am to 2pm - Story Time:
- Story sessions celebrating London, creativity, art, artists and the City.
11am to 4pm - Book Corner:
- Comfy cushions
- Fun costumes
- Soft‑play building bricks for little architects
Admission
The activities are free; however, booking is encouraged as it helps the Gallery ensure they have enough resources for everybody. Walk-ins are welcome on the day.
The Guildhall Art Gallery is free to enter and offers plenty to explore, so plan to make a day of it. You can bring your lunch to enjoy outside in Guildhall Yard or in the gallery's large cloakroom area.
This event is for children aged 3 to 13 and their families. It is not suitable for individual adults.
