Second Saturday – Family activities at Guildhall Art Gallery

Book now

A revolving programme of family activities may have you heading into the Roman Amphitheatre and hearing tales of Roman conquests, or creating crafts from the Victorian paintings surrounding you.

On the Second Saturday of every month, we run themed family events. This coming Saturday 13 July, join us to celebrate the fashions of Victorian times with our theme of hats.

Did you know Victorian men and children wore top hats, bowlers and other fancy styles?. Many Victorian women and girls wore bonnets and hats adorned with feathers.

Complete a fun gallery trail exploring our paintings in the gallery spotting different kinds of hats, create your own with craft activities or simply enjoy some hat-inspired stories.

A story corner with soft cushions, dress-up costumes and building bricks will also be available throughout the day.

Storytelling will take place at 11.30am to 11.50am and 2.30pm to 2.50pm

Please note this family session runs between 11- 4pm. Plan to make a day of it - bring a picnic lunch to have in Guildhall Yard, or eat nearby.

This event is for children aged 3-13 and their families, and it is not suitable for individual adults. The activities are free but booking is advised.

Sign up to the family mailing list to be the first to hear about upcoming events.
