A revolving programme of family activities may have you heading into the Roman Amphitheatre and hearing tales of Roman conquests, or creating crafts from the Victorian paintings surrounding you.
Join Guildhall Art Gallery on Second Saturday, 10 January, for a celebration of the freezing weather with Jack Frost and Frost fair themed printing and stories.
Explore the magic of Jack Frost and the printmaking of Kazuno Kohara through a range of family-friendly activities inspired by London's historic Frost Fairs, which took place on the Thames during winters cold enough to freeze the river.
11am to 4pm Creative Activity:
- Block print your own frosty pictures, frostify your favourite artworks with oil pastels or draw with scissors to create your own Jack Frost.
11 am and 2pm Story time:
- Story sessions celebrating creativity, art, artists and the City.
There will also be a story zone with cushions, costumes, and soft play building bricks.
Admission
The activities are free; however, booking is encouraged as it helps the Gallery ensure they have enough resources for everybody. Walk-ins are welcome on the day.
The Guildhall Art Gallery is free to enter and offers plenty to explore, so plan to make a day of it. You can bring your lunch to enjoy outside in Guildhall Yard or in the gallery's large cloakroom area.
This event is for children aged 3 to 13 and their families. It is not suitable for individual adults.
