A host of creative family workshops carefully curated for all the family to enjoy.

On Saturdays enjoy making, clowning, music, circus and fun-filled family activities at creative workshops curated by Tootles + Nibs. With their secret recipe of hubbub, hullaballoo, and brouhaha, they promise a fun-packed day for kids and grown-ups alike.

Workshops will take place in The Garden – Bartholomew Fair’s family hub. Details of additional family activities on Thursdays and Fridays can be found here.

Heraldic Banner Making – 2pm and 4pm

Discover the art of Heraldic Banner Making! Join our workshop to create personalised family emblems, expressive symbols, or guild insignias that bridge tradition and modernity. Our craft leaders will guide you through designing, crafting, and printing your unique heraldic banner, helping you shape a lasting legacy. Don't miss the chance to unleash your creativity.

Jester School – 3pm and 5pm

Where did the jesters of Bartholomew Fair learn their trade? At Jester School of course! Where laughter is the curriculum and merrymaking the most important subject. Our seasoned jesters will be your guides as you learn the art of physical comedy, improvise side-splitting sketches, and master the craft of slapstick and silliness. – it's an education in entertainment you won't want to miss!

9 September - St Botolph's Without Aldgate Churchyard

Story Printing – 2pm and 4pm

Help us to forge a fresh legend for London and watch it come alive on a grand canvas story print! Our crafters will assist you in creating your unique chapter for our evolving tale then help you transform your narrative into captivating printed illustrations, leaving the story to be completed by the next person. Together we will immortalise your tale and add it to the rich tapestry of London lore

Songs of London with Brigitte Aphrodite & Quiet Boy – 3pm and 5pm

What's a fair without a little music? Come join renowned punk poet, musician and performer Brigitte Aphrodite alongside composer and sound designer Quiet Boy as they help you unleash your inner musician. Sing about your city, let the world know what London means to you and then craft it into a unique and beautiful song, No experience needed - just your creative spirit.

16 September - Smithfield Rotunda Gardens

Circus workshop – 2pm and 4pm

Relive the magic of Bartholomew Fair's circus heyday! Be the performer you've always admired – acrobats and jugglers awing the crowd. Our unique workshop transforms you into the star. Learn daring acts from our skilled circus mentors. Step into history, unleash your talent and grab the spotlight!

Puppet workshop with Ceridwen Brown – 3pm and 5pm

Join us for an exciting workshop led by puppet maker, Ceridwen Gale Brown. Get ready to embark on a creative journey as Ceridwen expertly guides you through each step to craft your very own Bartholomew Fair circus performer puppet. Unleash your imagination and watch it soar like a high-flying trapeze artist as you bring your puppet to life. In this workshop you'll learn creative techniques which will help you transform simple materials into captivating puppets that embody the spirit of Bartholomew fair.
